NWC Commences SAR2 Billion Water and Sanitation Projects in Riyadh Region

The National Water Company (NWC), through its Central Cluster, has announced in a press release the commencement of 30 new water and sanitary drainage projects in Riyadh Region. These projects involve a total length of lines and networks of 1,955 kilometers and a total cost of nearly SAR2 billion.
 These projects are part of NWC’s ongoing efforts to implement its strategic plans to develop water and environmental services infrastructure and increase service coverage for its customers.
 According to NWC, the water projects it has begun implementing comprise 16 projects in Riyadh city and several governorates. These projects cover parts of the following districts in Riyadh; Al-Taawun, Al-Janadiriyah and Leban, Al-Diriyah, Dirab; and parts of Al-Quwaiyah, Afif, Al-Dawadmi, Al-Muzahimiyah, Al-Reen, Al-Kharj, Hawtat Bani Tamim, Al-Hariq, Al-Majmaah, Al-Zulfi, and Thadiq governorates, as well as Al-Ayinah and Al-Jubaila centers. The projects include line and network lengths exceeding 1,192 kilometers, the construction of 18 water reservoirs with a total capacity of nearly 85,000 cubic meters, and pumping stations with a daily volume of over 247,000 cubic meters at a total cost of over SAR1 billion.
 The release further highlighted the commencement of 14 sewerage projects within Riyadh Region, encompassing Riyadh city and several governorates. These projects include parts of the districts of Al-Munsiyah, Al-Mu'aizilah, Al-Hazm, Namar, and Al-Awali in Riyadh city, alongside the implementation of separate sewerage lines in additional Riyadh districts and parts of Al-Zulfi, Al-Ghat, Shaqra, Al-Muzahimiyah, Al-Kharj and Hawtat Bani Tami governorates. The projects involve line network lengths of nearly 763 kilometers, in addition to lifting stations with a capacity of 117,000 cubic meters per day, at a total cost of over SAR902 million.
 Furthermore, this new package of projects follows previous commitments announced in May 2024 to implement 46 projects worth over SAR1.6 billion, and in August 2024 to implement 20 projects worth about SAR1 billion.
 The company underscored that this project package is part of its efforts to strengthen the water distribution system, eliminate environmental damage, and achieve water security and environmental balance. "This confirms its continued implementation of strategic plans to increase operational efficiency in the water and environment sectors, adhering to the highest quality and performance standards to realize the goals of Saudi Vision 2030," the release stated.
