Saudi Reef Launches ‘Sustainable Reef’ Initiative to Support Rural Communities, Families
The Sustainable Agricultural Rural Development Program “Saudi Reef” launched a new media initiative titled “Sustainable Reef,” aimed at highlighting the program’s significant impact in supporting rural communities and promoting agricultural and economic sustainability across the Kingdom.
The initiative comes as part of government efforts to empower farmers and rural families, achieve balanced development that improves quality of life, and strengthen the foundations of national food security.
Since its launch, “Saudi Reef” has reached more than 87,235 beneficiaries from rural families across the Kingdom, providing them with direct support that enabled them to grow their businesses and increase their income sources. The program’s impact extends beyond financial aid to include training, guidance, and capacity-building, reflecting the Kingdom’s commitment to fostering a strong rural community capable of making effective contributions to the national economy.
The program provides direct financial support to rural families to boost income and develop businesses, alongside ongoing initiatives to advance the agricultural sector through collective investment and modern technologies. It also promotes smart farming by linking it to the Internet of Things (IoT) and big data, while serving thousands of farmers through an integrated system that ensures sustainable benefits.
The support provided through the program covers eight key agricultural sectors: Saudi coffee, value-added development, livestock, rain-fed crops, beekeeping and honey production, aromatic plants, fisheries, and fruits. The program is dedicated to enhancing the sustainability of these vital sectors, ensuring empowerment and stability for rural families.
The program’s sustainable impact is reflected in the creation of productive projects from and for rural areas, by empowering youth and local communities, boosting investment in the rural economy, and enhancing the efficiency of supply chains, thereby contributing to the achievement of Saudi Vision 2030 goals.
