Bupa Padel Tournament Expands with New Features, Women’s Teams in 2025

The second season of the Bupa Padel Tournament is set to feature significant changes, including the debut of women’s teams and expanded geographical coverage, according to Amin Shaibi, Director of Segment & Trade Management at Bupa Arabia.

The tournament, part of Bupa Arabia’s broader "Live Right" initiative, aims to promote healthier lifestyles across Saudi Arabia while supporting the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 reform agenda.

Women’s Teams Make Debut

For the first time, the tournament will include 16 women’s teams, alongside 64 men’s teams, marking a milestone for gender inclusivity in Saudi sports. “This step reflects our commitment to empowering women and aligns with Vision 2030’s goals for an inclusive society,” Shaibi told Riyadh Daily.

The inclusion comes amid growing efforts to boost women’s participation in sports and other sectors as part of the Kingdom’s transformative reforms.

National Expansion, Fan Zones Introduced

The tournament will expand beyond Jeddah, with matches planned in Riyadh and the Eastern Province to reach a wider audience. Additionally, fan zones will be introduced at the venues, offering live music, entertainment, and family-friendly activities to enhance the spectator experience.

“The goal is to create not just a competitive event, but an engaging community experience,” Shaibi said.

An exhibition match featuring international padel stars, including Leonel Aguirre and Federico Nazar, is expected to draw further attention, along with local players like Saudi national Hatan BaDokhun and professional player Hani Halwani.

Promoting Wellness Through Sport

The tournament forms part of Bupa Arabia’s mission to promote physical activity and wellness under the "Live Right" program. "Padel is one of the fastest-growing sports in Saudi Arabia, making it an ideal platform to inspire healthier lifestyles," Shaibi said.

The initiative highlights Saudi Arabia’s efforts to build a sports culture that fosters community cohesion and encourages active living.

Future Growth and International Plans

Looking ahead, the tournament is exploring opportunities to include international participation in future seasons. “Expanding globally will not only elevate competition but also position Saudi Arabia as a regional sports hub,” Shaibi said.

With the event set to culminate in a Super Cup, the tournament continues to support Bupa Arabia’s mission of driving health awareness while fostering collaboration across industries.
