WOAH Approves Saudi Arabia's Rabies Control Program

The World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) has approved Saudi Arabia's rabies control program after the Kingdom fulfilled all technical requirements and international standards necessary for the approval of disease control programs.

The approval came during the 93rd session of the WOAH General Assembly, held in Paris with the participation of member states and international organizations concerned with animal health.

This approval followed a comprehensive evaluation of the technical program developed by the National Center for the Prevention and Control of Plant Pests and Animal Diseases (Weqaa Center).

The program features a comprehensive and integrated approach to preventing and controlling dog-mediated rabies and fully complies with the WOAH-established international standards and technical requirements.

This accreditation reflects the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening its animal health system, adopting international best practices for the prevention and control of zoonotic diseases, and safeguarding public health by reducing the risk of rabies transmission to humans.
