King Abdulaziz Camel Festival concluded today after 34 days of competitions and cultural events, drawing large crowds and wide participation from camel owners across the Kingdom and Gulf countries, with the closing ceremony highlighted by the Crown Prince’s Shalfah (Al-Wadah) race, which attracted significant public and media attention.
Economically, the festival generated strong activity, with total prize money exceeding SAR200 million. The accompanying camel market recorded the sale of nearly 9,000 camels during the festival, along with several high-value individual deals, some reaching SAR15 million. These figures reflect growing confidence in the sector and the substantial liquidity injected into the local economy through the event.
The camel event also enjoyed strong international engagement, welcoming more than 3,000 foreign tourists from over 50 countries, as well as visits from princes, ambassadors, prominent figures, and celebrities. This wide participation underscored its cultural and tourism appeal and its role in showcasing Saudi heritage globally. With record attendance, high-quality competitions, and broad public interaction, the 10th edition reaffirmed the festival’s success in uniting heritage, sport, the economy, and tourism, strengthening its status as both a national and international cultural landmark.
