ZATCA Thwarts Attempt to Smuggle 646,000 Amphetamine Pills at Jeddah Islamic Port
The Zakat, Tax and Customs Authority (ZATCA) at Jeddah Islamic Port thwarted an attempt to smuggle 646,000 amphetamine pills concealed in a shipment arriving at the port.
ZATCA official spokesman Hamoud Al-Harbi explained that the shipment, which arrived at Jeddah Islamic Port and consisted of foodstuffs containing beans, was inspected using advanced security technologies and live equipment during customs procedures, revealing the hidden pills inside.
He added that following the seizure, ZATCA immediately coordinated with the General Directorate of Narcotics Control (GDNC), leading to the arrest of three intended recipients of the seized items in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
He emphasized that ZATCA continues to tighten customs controls over the Kingdom's imports and exports to safeguard society from such threats, working in close and continuous coordination with GDNC.
ZATCA's official spokesman urged the public to cooperate in combating smuggling to protect both society and the national economy by reporting any smuggling activities through its dedicated security hotline at 1910, via email at 1910@zatca.gov.sa, or by calling the international number 009661910. All reports are handled with strict confidentiality, and individuals who provide accurate and actionable information may be eligible for a financial reward.
