GASTAT: Wholesale, Retail Trade Operating Revenue Index Rises 3.2% in Q2 2026
The overall operating revenue index increased by 3.2% in the second quarter of 2026 compared with the same period in 2025. On a quarterly basis, the index declined by 0.6% compared with the first quarter of 2026.
According to the Wholesale and Retail Trade Statistics Bulletin for Q2 2026, issued by the General Authority for Statistics (GASTAT), the employee compensation index increased by 9.0% compared with the same quarter in 2025. The increase was driven by a 10.8% rise in employee compensation in the retail trade sector.
The results also showed that the e-sales index increased by 9.8% compared with Q2 2025. Retail trade activity rose by 13.4%, wholesale trade by 6.5%, and motor vehicle sales and repair by 2.4%.
On a quarterly basis, the e-sales index increased by 1.1% in retail trade, 0.3% in wholesale trade, and 0.1% in motor vehicle sales and repair.
The motor vehicle sales index increased by 0.6% compared with the same quarter in 2025. It also rose by 0.9% compared with Q1 2026.
