Gilded Textiles Illuminate AlMunawwarah Section at Islamic Arts Biennale
This year's Islamic Arts Biennale, held by the Diriyah Biennale Foundation under the theme "And All That Is In Between," is underway at the Western Hajj Terminal in Jeddah's King Abdulaziz International Airport until May 25. This prominent cultural event draws Islamic art enthusiasts globally, offering a unique exploration of Islamic creativity.
A highlight of the Biennale is "AlMunawwarah" section, a captivating display of Madinah's cultural and spiritual heritage. This section blends a serene spiritual ambiance with architectural design inspired by the Prophet's Mosque. Notably, it features intricately gilded green textiles, where golden threads depict the mosque's grandeur and reverence, showcasing the enduring creativity of Islamic art.
These textiles, used for over 1,200 years, symbolize appreciation and reverence for the Prophet's Mosque, serving not only as protective coverings but also as expressions of esteem from leaders and scholars throughout history.
AlMunawwarah section provides a unique experience, merging ancient heritage with contemporary art, inviting visitors to contemplate the splendor of these gilded textiles and uncover their historical significance, creating a cultural and artistic journey that bridges the past and present with profound spirituality.
