Under Patronage of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Attends Launch of Global Cybersecurity Forum Fourth Edition
Under the patronage of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and on his behalf, Deputy Governor of Riyadh Region Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz attended the launch of the fourth edition of the Global Cybersecurity Forum (GCF) today. This year’s forum, themed "Advancing Collective Action in Cyberspace," is organized by the National Cybersecurity Authority in partnership with the Saudi Information Technology Company (SITE). The event will last for two days and features participation from decision-makers and CEOs of relevant international organizations, representing various government, academic, and leading global companies from 120 countries.
Upon his arrival, the deputy governor was welcomed by Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority Eng. Majed Al-Mazyed.
In his opening speech, Prince Mohammed highlighted key points from the welcoming address of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, who announced the Child Protection in Cyberspace (CPC) Global Summit. The CPC Global Summit is the first of its kind and aims to unify international efforts and enhance the global response to threats facing children in the digital realm, reflecting Saudi Arabia's commitment to promoting human welfare and prosperity.
Prince Mohammed stated, “As the need for strengthened international collaboration towards a safe and reliable cyberspace becomes increasingly urgent, this forum and its expert participants give us confidence that the outcomes will meet the world's aspirations for this vital and promising sector.”
For his part, Governor of the National Cybersecurity Authority Eng. Majed Al-Mazyed delivered a speech in which he praised the profound themes in the address of His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, highlighting the crucial connection between cyberspace, economic growth, societal prosperity, individual security, and national stability. He emphasized the growing importance of unifying and aligning international efforts to seize opportunities and confront challenges in cyberspace through investment in human capital.
He pointed to the Kingdom’s efforts in building internationally oriented platforms and launching pioneering global initiatives across various related fields. Among these was the establishment of the Global Cybersecurity Forum Foundation by Royal Order in 2023, aimed at opening avenues of knowledge on cybersecurity topics, fostering cooperation, and leveraging the vast opportunities in the sector to stimulate development and advance global prosperity.
The Global Cybersecurity Forum witnessed the hosting of the first Global Summit on Child Protection in Cyberspace. The summit was organized by the National Cybersecurity Authority and the Global Cybersecurity Forum Foundation in collaboration with the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), UNICEF, various stakeholders from the private sector, nonprofit organizations, and international academic institutions. The summit aligns with the goals of the Crown Prince’s Global Child Protection in Cyberspace initiative by raising global awareness among decision-makers about the growing threats children face in the digital space.
This edition of the forum continues to build on the foundations and objectives set by previous editions, bringing together several high-level international officials.
