Comprehensive Services for the Elderly and People with Disabilities at Prophet's Mosque

The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet's Mosque is giving special attention to elderly visitors and people with disabilities during Ramadan. It provides a comprehensive system of services and facilities to help them perform their religious rituals with ease and comfort.
Accessible prayer areas have been designated near the mosque's main entrances. A special section for the deaf is located on the western roof near Gate No. 6. Sign language interpretation of the Friday sermon is also provided. Copies of the Quran in Braille are available to assist visually impaired worshippers.
Mobility services have been expanded through electric carts and wheelchairs to support movement within the mosque's courtyards. A free cart loan service is available at exits 309 and 343. Ramps have also been installed at entrances and facilities to improve access for wheelchair users.
Drinking water facilities have been adapted with stands designed for wheelchair users to allow easier access to Zamzam water. In addition, 62 restrooms have been designated for elderly visitors and people with disabilities in both the men's and women's sections.
The Prophet's Mosque is equipped with 180 elevators and 156 escalators across its courtyards and facilities, along with 24 staircases inside the mosque. These features help facilitate smooth movement, especially during peak periods in Ramadan.
These measures form part of the authority's strategy to enhance services for worshippers and visitors, ensuring that all groups can perform their religious rites in a safe, accessible, and comfortable environment.
