
SBA, Film Commission Sign Agreement to Enhance Film Production, Preserve Audiovisual Heritage
The Saudi Broadcasting Authority (SBA), represented by its CEO Mohammed Al-Harthi, signed a joint cooperation agreement with the Film Commission, represented by its CEO Abdullah bin Nasser Al-Qahtani. The signing took place during the launch of the ‘Cinema’ initiative, part of the National Film Archive program under the Film Commission.
The agreement seeks to unify initiatives in the Saudi film industry and build bridges of cooperation with active national entities that contribute to promoting Saudi Arabia’s image through media and cinema, highlighting the features of Saudi cultural identity.
The MoU includes several articles for cooperation with the Digital Archive Center at the Saudi Broadcasting Authority and it reflects the shared interest of both parties in achieving a positive and sustainable impact by cataloging and documenting Saudi film heritage, conducting analytical studies and research on Saudi film archives, restoring and digitizing rare cinematic materials with high-quality technology, as well as strengthening cooperation in hosting art exhibitions and joint events.
The agreement also emphasizes investing in human capital through development, training, and knowledge exchange in the field of archiving.
