WPC Energy Congress Examines Economic Transformation and Fiscal Sustainability
A panel discussion titled "Saudi Vision 2030: Economic Transformation and Global Competitiveness" examined the key pillars of the vision's success and strategies for managing large-scale economic transformation. It also explored approaches to attracting foreign investment and maintaining fiscal sustainability. The discussion took place as part of the 25th WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh.
Minister of Investment Fahad bin Abduljalil Al-Saif emphasized that the Kingdom's investment environment has undergone a qualitative shift from a focus on quantity to quality. He noted that capital development and investment had increased significantly over the past five years, with the cumulative stock of foreign direct investment (FDI) reaching approximately SAR1.1 trillion.
He highlighted that the private sector accounted for more than 75% of investment during the same period. This was supported by the development of supply chains and economic and industrial clusters, including automotive and maritime industry hubs, which have strengthened the Kingdom's global competitiveness.
Participants concluded that Saudi Vision 2030 is not merely a milestone or an interim goal but a platform for building a sustainable and internationally competitive economy. They emphasized the importance of clear policies, regulatory stability, and higher productivity across the public and private sectors to ensure long-term economic prosperity.
