
Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University Launches First AI Mentor in Saudi Universities with Multiple Functions and Innovative Technology
The Council of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University, in its twenty-sixth session chaired by His Excellency the University President, Professor Fahd Al-Harbi, approved the launch of the "elo AI Mentor" project. This is a pioneering step in the university's journey towards digital transformation and the adoption of modern technologies to serve and digitize the educational process. His Excellency praised the importance of the project as an intelligent artificial companion that supports the user experience in searching for information, facilitates the creation of questions, and summarizes content, thereby contributing to raising the efficiency of education and the quality of its outputs. This aligns with the Saudi Vision 2030 in building a knowledge-based society founded on innovation and confirms the university's commitment to providing a smart university educational environment that anticipates the future and contributes to building globally competitive human capabilities.
His Excellency the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Abdullah Almuhaideb, also praised the role of the "elo AI Mentor" in employing artificial intelligence techniques and applications to serve university education. The project enables faculty members to convert courses into organized question banks and summarize extensive references, which saves them significant time and enriches educational content. This supports Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University's journey towards achieving academic excellence and solidifies its position and precedence in achieving the cornerstones of sustainable education and learning.
Her Excellency the Dean of the Deanship of eLearning and Distance Learning, Dr. Muneerah Almahasheer, appreciated the extension of Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University's pioneering role in leading change in digital education. The Deanship of eLearning and Distance Learning has developed the capabilities of its staff to launch the first "elo Advanced AI Mentor" in Saudi universities. This is the result of long-term efforts to integrate artificial intelligence into educational services. The three generative tools of the project – the intelligent assistant, the question generator, and the intelligent summarizer – were designed and integrated into the Blackboard learning management system by the Deanship team to meet the needs of students and faculty members accurately and quickly while maintaining data reliability and confidentiality. This work is the result of governance of roles and responsibilities through the university's partners, represented by the university's agencies, colleges, the Deanship of Admission and Registration, the Deanship of Graduate Studies, the Communications and Information Technology Center, and the Data Management Office The Deanship of eLearning and Distance Learning at Imam Abdulrahman bin Faisal University has received the Anthology Catalyst Award 2024 in the category of " Leading Change" for its application of best practices and technical solutions to enhance the effectiveness of innovation in improving the efficiency and quality of eLearning and training. With this innovation, the university is leading a new revolution in the field of digital education and artificial intelligence (elo), which is linked to achieving the objectives of the university's digital education strategic plan. This reinforces the university's role in shaping the future, expanding partnerships, and developing innovative technical products to achieve the goals of education and scientific research in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
