Ministry of Islamic Affairs and National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Sign Memorandum of Understanding
The Ministry of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance signed a memorandum of understanding today with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos in the Philippines at the ministry’s Makkah branch.
The ministry was represented by Undersecretary for Islamic Affairs Dr. Awad bin Sabti Al-Enezi, on behalf of Minister of Islamic Affairs, Dawah and Guidance Sheikh Dr. Abdullatif Al Alsheikh, while the Philippine side was represented by Secretary of the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos Sabuddin Abdurahim.
The memorandum aims to strengthen cooperation between the two sides in Islamic affairs, promote awareness of Islam and its tolerant values, highlight its merits and position on contemporary issues, raise the cultural awareness of Muslims, preserve their identity and social cohesion, and promote the values of compassion, mercy, and solidarity, in accordance with the laws and regulations in force in both countries.
It also provides for cooperation in exchanging research, books, and scientific publications on Islamic affairs in various languages; coordinating visits by the Imams of the Two Holy Mosques to the Philippines; organizing scientific conferences and training seminars to qualify preachers, orators, imams, and muezzins; and facilitating the participation of scholars and specialized preachers in Islamic conferences and seminars held in both countries.
