Passports Directorate: Activation of Renewed Passport Required for GCC Travel with National ID
The General Directorate of Passports has emphasized that activating the passport after its renewal is required for citizens wishing to travel to Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries using their national ID.
Activation can be completed by visiting any directorate office, branch, or international border crossing and presenting the previous passport, with no prior appointment required.
The directorate pointed out that when traveling to GCC countries, a national ID must be valid for at least three months. It added that the digital ID available through the Absher and Tawakkalna platforms is considered an identification document for use within the Kingdom only and does not allow its holder to travel abroad.
