Camel Hackathon: Developmental Event Enhancing Value of Saudi Cultural Heritage

Coinciding with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's efforts to celebrate the Year of the Camel 2024, the Camel Hackathon initiative has been launched at Jada 30 in Hail in partnership with the non-profit private sector, the Camel Club, and the Social Development Bank (SDB).
The Camel Hackathon, organized by the Saleh Rakhis Cultural Center, embodies the leadership's aspirations to develop camels' cultural, developmental, and economic components, underscoring the importance of the sector as a part of the national heritage and a key pillar in achieving sustainable economic development in this field and in line with the objectives of the Saudi Vision 2030.
The Camel Hackathon brought together a selection of entrepreneurs, developers, and experts, with more than 600 registered participants and 24 teams selected to present their ideas.
Participants received training and qualification sessions conducted by a group of experts and specialists in entrepreneurship from the SDB.
The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Saleh Rakhis Cultural Center, Eng. Abdullah Al-Rakhis, presented the 10 winners with Hackathon prizes totaling SAR 200,000.
The Hackathon will continue in the business accelerator for two months, culminating in the announcement of five winning projects that will receive cash prizes. These winning projects will then enter an incubation phase at Jada 30 for nine months to ensure their sustainability and growth.
Al-Rakhis emphasized that the center, in partnership with the Camel Club and the SDB, aims to implement quality initiatives that contribute to enhancing the Kingdom's cultural heritage, creating developmental opportunities for the community, and generating sustainable quality jobs.
He noted that these efforts align with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 and reinforce the established status of camels as authentic cultural heritage in response to the Ministry of Culture's announcement of 2024 as the "Year of the Camel."
