Ramadan in Al-Baha Brings Generations of Flavor to the Table
Traditional dishes are the highlight of Al-Baha's Ramadan tables, reflecting the region's rich heritage and adding a unique essence to the Ramadan atmosphere.
With its mountainous landscape and mild climate, Al-Baha is home to a variety of traditional dishes passed down through generations. Notable among them are assida, haneeth, and marquq. Serving these dishes goes beyond mere nourishment; it is a celebration of cultural identity that the people of Al-Baha are dedicated to preserving.
Bashayer Al-Ghamdi, a local resident, shared with the Saudi Press Agency that despite modern developments, many women in Al-Baha continue to prepare these traditional dishes by hand, using locally sourced ingredients like dates, grains, and mountain herbs. This not only enhances the nutritional and cultural value of the food but also infuses a nostalgic, heritage-inspired flavor, making the Ramadan experience truly special.
