IMCTC to Launch Counter-Terrorism Program in the Sahel Region

The Islamic Military Counter Terrorism Coalition (IMCTC) will launch its counter-terrorism program in the Sahel region tomorrow from the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott.
The program aims to strengthen local and regional capacities to combat extremism and terrorism in the Sahel region, raise awareness and effectively address extremism and counter terrorist groups, with a focus on highlighting tolerance and moderation and their role in spreading peace and stability.
Five countries will benefit from the five-year program: Mauritania, Mali, Chad, Niger, and Burkina Faso.
The choice of Riyadh as the permanent headquarters of the coalition reflects the Kingdom's expanding its sphere of influence and making the coalition a model of practical cooperation in confronting the scourge of terrorism. It also highlights its efforts to combat terrorism, locally and globally.
Attending the launch will be Mauritanian Defense Minister Hanena Ould Sidi, IMCTC Secretary General Maj. Gen. Mohammed bin Saeed Al-Moghedi, senior local and international officials, experts, and researchers.
