Transport General Authority Carries out over 34,000 Inspection Tours in Makkah, Madinah in First Week of Ramadan

Transport General Authority (TGA) teams carried out over 34,000 inspection tours in Makkah and Madinah in the first week of Ramadan, as part of its continuous efforts to ensure compliance with standards and regulations, and, as a result, the safety of Umrah performers and visitors there.
TGA said that in the course of the 24,632 inspection tours carried out in Makkah, the authority detected 5,530 violations, achieving a compliance rate of 90%, while in the 9,711 inspection tours in Madinah, the authority discovered 1,054 violations and achieved a compliance rate of 93%.
Most violations in Makkah were concerned with bus drivers with no driver card, buses lacking the necessary technical equipment, or absence of an assistant driver for long trips.
In the case of trucks, violations included operating the vehicle without an operation card or with a canceled operational card, failure to provide a transport document for goods, or failure to secure the minimum approved safety requirements.
In case of taxis, violations included failure to wear a uniform, not meeting technical and maintenance requirements for the vehicle, and lack of necessary technical equipment.
In Madinah, top violations in the case of buses included employing a driver without obtaining an operation card, failure to equip the bus with the necessary technical equipment, and operating buses with non-functional toilets.
Truck violations included operating a vehicle without an operation card, lack of transport documents for goods, and non-compliance of protection barriers with the required specifications from relevant authorities.
Taxi violations included conducting activities without an operation card, not meeting the technical and maintenance requirements for the vehicle, and failure of the driver to wear a uniform during working hours.
