In the presence of President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, an official ceremony was held to inaugurate the Khizi–Absheron Wind Power Plant in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The project developer was represented by Chairman of the Board of Directors of ACWA Power Mohammed Abunayyan.

The Khizi–Absheron Wind Power Plant is among the largest wind energy projects developed by Saudi ACWA Power in Azerbaijan, with a total capacity of 240 megawatts. The project contributes to increasing the share of renewable energy in Azerbaijan’s energy mix, reducing carbon emissions, and supporting the country’s energy objectives.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Assistant Minister of Energy for Electricity Affairs Eng. Nasser Al-Qahtani, along with senior Azerbaijani government officials, representatives of the energy sector, and international partners.

The Khizi–Absheron project highlights the advanced cooperation between Saudi Arabia and Azerbaijan in the field of renewable energy. It also strengthens the Kingdom’s presence in global energy markets, supports the exchange of expertise, and advances sustainable renewable energy value chains.

The project forms part of a broader portfolio of ACWA Power–led investments across multiple countries, reaffirming the Kingdom’s leadership in advancing the global transition toward a more sustainable energy future through its national companies.
