Saudi Arabia Re-Elected to IGC Administrative Committee
The International Grain Council (IGC) re-elected the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a member of the administrative committee for the 2025-2026 session during its 62nd meeting in London yesterday, retaining the Kingdom among 16 elected members chosen from a total of 30 countries.
General Food Security Authority Chairman Ahmed bin Abdulaziz Al-Fares stated that Saudi Arabia's renewed membership on the IGC administrative committee confirms its expanding role in international forums and its significant economic influence on both international and regional stages. Since joining the board on September 1, 2010, the Kingdom has actively contributed to board decisions that enhance global grain market stability.
During its 62nd session, the IGC addressed key issues affecting grain, rice, and oilseeds markets. Discussions focused on global supply and demand trends, maritime shipping, the impact of non-tariff barriers on international food trade, trade policy developments, strategies to improve multilateral trade cooperation, and administrative and financial matters related to council operations.
