Mawani Adds Shipping Service 'JDX' to Jeddah Islamic Port

The Saudi Ports Authority (Mawan) announced that the German international shipping and container transportation company Hapag-Lloyd added the new shipping service (JDX) to Jeddah Islamic Port, which connects the Kingdom to the ports of Africa.
Mawani said in a statement that the addition aims to support trade movement between Saudi ports and ports around the world and it aligns with Mawani's efforts to solidify the Kingdom's standing as a global logistics hub bridging three continents, to enhance supply-chain movement in line with the objectives of the National Transport and Logistics Strategy (NTLS), and to improving the Kingdom's ranking in international indicators.
The new shipping service connects Jeddah Islamic Port with the ports of Tangier in Morocco and Damietta in Egypt through regular weekly trips, boasting a capacity of up to 4,253 20-foof equivalent units (TEUs), Mawani said, adding that the distinguished infrastructure of Jeddah Islamic Port and the variety of shipping services it offers have enabled it to be recognized with several international awards, including the 'Advanced Infrastructure' award at the 'Landmarks in Logistics Summit 2023', the 'Port of the Year' award at the 'Transport and Logistics Awards' ceremony in the United Arab Emirates, and the 'Best Port' award in 2022 at the Global Green Shipping Summit in Rotterdam.
