Visitors Explore Bedouin Heritage through Sadu Weaving at Al-Jouf Olive Festival
At the 19th Al-Jouf International Olive Festival, families working in the cottage industry are presenting a range of handicrafts and folk arts, with traditional Sadu products highlighted as a cherished heritage of the Kingdom and Al-Jouf Region.
Visitors learn about the methods of weaving Sadu pieces and fabric production used to create table covers, blankets, rugs, embroidered cushions, clothing, and accessories made from Sadu textiles.
The traditional art of Sadu weaving has long relied on raw materials available in the Bedouin environment, including camel hair, goat hair, and sheep wool. Tools such as the spindle, loom, and wooden implements are used by craftswomen in weaving and in separating wool after washing and drying it, before spinning it into twisted threads from which Sadu pieces are woven.
