SFDA CEO Reviews Operational Preparedness for Hajj Season in Makkah and Jeddah

Chief Executive Officer of the Saudi Food and Drug Authority (SFDA) Dr. Hisham Aljadhey recently undertook a series of inspection visits to critical locations, food establishments, and control centers in Makkah and Jeddah. These visits were integral to the authority's proactive measures for the upcoming 1446 AH Hajj season, focusing on evaluating operational readiness and ensuring field compliance.

 According to a press release from the SFDA, the tour commenced with visits to several food factories and storage facilities designated to supply products for pilgrims. Dr. Aljadhey assessed their level of compliance and preparedness, reiterating the importance of thorough field inspections in maintaining food safety standards and enhancing supply quality, thereby contributing to the protection of pilgrims during the season.

 Furthermore, Dr. Aljadhey inspected the SFDA's ongoing operations at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah. He observed the comprehensive work of the authority's inspectors at the air cargo office and the Hajj Terminal, who maintain a continuous vigil to verify that incoming shipments of food, medicine, and medical devices adhere to established regulations. Their use of advanced control systems, which incorporate artificial intelligence, facilitates accelerated clearance and bolsters the reliability of products entering Saudi Arabia.

 Dr. Aljadhey also visited the Health Monitoring Center in Pilgrims City, where he reviewed the health and control services extended to pilgrims. He appreciated the exemplary coordination among government entities and emphasized the imperative of collaborative efforts to enhance pilgrim health.

 These field visits demonstrate the SFDA's unwavering commitment to overseeing the readiness of its operations across various strategic locations during the Hajj season. They further exemplify the cohesive integration of its supervisory, technical, and technological teams, all dedicated to reinforcing the safety of food, medicine, and medical devices and optimizing response efficacy to serve pilgrims.
