What Secrets Do the Ancient Caves of Mount Shada Al-Asfal Hold?

Mount Shada Al-Asfal in Al-Makhwah Governorate, Al-Baha Region, conceals secrets dating back thousands of years among its towering granite rocks, rising 1,600 meters above sea level and considered one of the most remarkable granite formations in the Kingdom.

 Natural caves scattered across the mountain bear Thamudic drawings and inscriptions documenting human and animal figures that narrate aspects of settlement and life in southwestern Arabia.

 The mountain also boasts rich vegetation, valleys, and diverse wildlife, and is known for producing Shada coffee.

 Residents have rehabilitated these historic caves into tourist resorts attracting visitors year-round for adventure, exploration, and photography, transforming the mountain into a heritage and tourism destination for visitors from within and outside the Kingdom.
