SDAIA Invites Public to Share Feedback on Rules for Appointing Personal Data Protection Officer

The Saudi Authority for Data and Artificial Intelligence (SDAIA) invited the public and government agencies to provide feedback on the draft rules for appointing a Personal Data Protection Officer. Feedback should be submitted through the Public Consultation Platform "Istitlaa," which is affiliated with the National Competitiveness Center. The deadline for submitting feedback is Tuesday, August 6.

The project aims to clarify the circumstances under which a personal data protection officer must be appointed by the controllers covered by the provisions of the Personal Data Protection System and its executive regulations. It also aims to establish the minimum requirements for appointment. Additionally, the project includes determining the requirements for appointing a personal data protection officer to oversee the implementation of the system's provisions and regulations, monitor the procedures applied within the controller and supervise them, and handle requests related to personal data in accordance with the provisions of the system and its regulations. The appointed officer will also serve as a direct contact person with the competent authority and will implement its decisions and instructions regarding the application of the provisions of the system and its regulations.

The launch of this survey demonstrates SDAIA's commitment to engaging the public and government agencies, receiving their feedback, and proposing appropriate recommendations based on the analysis and study of the feedback.
