China's JD Logistics Launches Operations Center in Riyadh
Chinese logistics giant JD Logistics (JINGDONG) officially launched its operations in Saudi Arabia, following the issuance of necessary licenses by the Saudi Economic Business Center.
The company selected Riyadh as its regional operations hub, citing the Kingdom’s attractive and enabling business environment. The move reflects the outcomes of periodic meetings held between JD Logistics and the E-Commerce Council, along with other relevant government entities, aimed at facilitating foreign investment and fostering strategic partnerships.
The inauguration ceremony was attended by Deputy Minister of Commerce and E-Commerce Council General Supervisor Dr. Iman bint Habbas Al-Mutairi, alongside representatives from the Ministries of Commerce, Investment, and Transport, the Saudi Authority for Industrial Cities and Technology Zones (MODON), the E-Commerce Council, the Chinese embassy in Riyadh, and several leading Saudi and Chinese companies.
During the launch, JD Logistics vice president Wang Ying announced that the company’s services will span most regions of the Kingdom. JD Logistics will provide a range of high-quality delivery options, including last-mile services, same-day delivery, and cash-on-delivery, supported by a robust network of warehouses, transportation, and sorting centers, and multiple delivery stations.
The company’s new 8,000-square-meter operations center in Riyadh, its first smart warehouse in the Middle East, underscores JD Logistics’ commitment to meeting the rising demand from consumers in Saudi Arabia and across the broader region.
The launch comes amid a broader influx of international companies investing in the Kingdom, driven by the abundant opportunities emerging under Saudi Vision 2030. The vision prioritizes the growth of the e-commerce sector and its contribution to economic diversification. Saudi Arabia is currently ranked among the top 10 fastest-growing countries in e-commerce globally.
