Stipa Capensis Transforms Northern Plains into Vibrant Natural Tapestry

The desert savanna known as “Stipa Capensis” has created a vivid natural scene across the valleys and lowlands south of Tal'at Al-Tumayyat west of Rafha, where golden and green grasses sway under the sun, reflecting the renewal of natural life cycles and the ecological balance of these open landscapes.
At sunset, the plant reveals its most striking beauty, blending with the horizon in a rich spectrum of earthy and sky tones. Beyond its visual appeal, it signals abundant vegetation cover, vital for sustaining wildlife and serving as a key food source for grazing animals.
Reaching up to 50 centimeters in height, the plant features fine, hair-covered leaves and delicate, needle-like awns. Environmental specialists attribute this vegetation density to seasonal rainfall, highlighting the resilience and diversity of northern Saudi Arabia’s ecosystems, which closely resemble natural savanna environments.
