Culture Ministry Launches 2025 Handicrafts Research Grant
The Ministry of Culture, in partnership with the Heritage Commission, has launched the Handicrafts Grant as part of the Year of Handicrafts 2025 initiative, running from July 14 to September 1, to support specialized research that highlights the cultural, social, economic, and intellectual significance of handicrafts in the Kingdom throughout history.
The grant covers six key themes: history of handicrafts, promoting handicrafts, economic impact and competitiveness, technology and its uses, society and handicrafts, and the concepts and cultural significance of handicrafts.
Eligibility requires applicants to hold a master's or doctoral degree, or possess a strong research track record. Submissions must adhere to deadlines, be exclusive to this grant (unless declined), and commit to producing a publishable academic paper.
This initiative aims to support cognitive research, enhance local knowledge for sustainable handicraft development, and foster communication among experts.
