Jeddah Gears Up to Host 31st Edition of FIBA Asia Cup 2025

Jeddah is set to host the 31st edition of the FIBA Asia Cup 2025, the premier men’s basketball tournament in Asia, held every four years and featuring 16 top national teams from Asia and Oceania, from August 5 to 17.

The tournament returns to Saudi Arabia for the second time since it was first hosted in Riyadh in 1997. This edition features a distinctive identity symbolizing the Saudi Ardah and national culture, with a design that blends the rhythmic movements of the Ardah with the agility of basketball players, highlighting a fusion of tradition and modern sport.

In addition to host nation Saudi Arabia, the tournament will feature national teams from Australia (two-time defending champion), Japan, Jordan, Lebanon, New Zealand, the Philippines, India, Chinese Taipei, Iraq, Guam, Qatar, Iran, Korea, China, and Syria—based on their performance in the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers.

Hosting the event is part of the Saudi Basketball Federation’s (SBF) strategic plan, which focuses on areas including promotion and tourism, aligning with the SBF’s key performance indicators.

The tournament also serves as an opportunity to elevate the status of basketball in the Kingdom, with the goal of making it the Kingdom’s second most popular sport.

The Red Sea city of Jeddah, one of Saudi Arabia’s most prominent cities, is preparing to host Asia’s premier continental basketball tournament. With its blend of rich history and modern culture, Jeddah serves as an ideal venue for a global sporting event.
