Salem bin Ahmed, a local leather craftsman, explained the intricate process of transforming animal hides into usable leather. From footwear and bags to furniture and automotive accessories, Najran's leather goods are renowned for their quality and unique aesthetic.
Maha Al-Saeed, head of the Lar Association for families working in the cottage industry in Najran, highlighted the leather industry's potential for economic growth and community development. Al-Saeed noted that the association has also organized a workshop to train aspiring artisans in crafting innovative leather products that harmoniously combine traditional techniques with contemporary design.
The Saudi Ministry of Culture and the Social Development Bank have supported leather artisans through training programs and financial aid, underscoring the Kingdom's commitment to preserving its rich cultural heritage.
