Hawi Introduces Amateur Football and Padel Tennis Tournaments in 3 Saudi Cities

The National Portal for Hobbies (Hawi), one of the initiatives of the Quality-of-Life program, announced the launch of amateur tournaments in football and padel tennis across Riyadh, Jeddah, and Dammam this month. The tournaments encourage a sense of rivalry and active involvement within the diverse club teams registered in Hawi while encouraging sports engagement among community members.
Hawi, in a released statement, clarified that the football championship qualifiers involve the participation of 16 teams in Riyadh. The competitions began on March 2 and run through March 22. Iin Jeddah, the competitions will commence tomorrow, and continue until March 10. Meanwhile, the padel tournament is scheduled with 16 teams in Riyadh and Jeddah and 32 teams in Dammam, spanning from March 7 to March 9.
The statement highlighted that organizing these events aims to boost participation in sports hobbies, empower individuals, and inspire people to engage in their preferred recreational activities. The initiative aligns with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, focusing on improving the quality of life, raising community awareness, and aiming to reach a target of 6,000 amateur clubs throughout the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia by 2030.
According to Hawi Marketing and Communication Officer Enad bin Saad Al-Nafi'i, the Hawi Championships aim to establish a competitive atmosphere that motivates amateurs. This aligns with Hawi's ongoing efforts to promote hobby engagement within the community and raise awareness of their significance. He emphasized that these tournaments offer an opportunity for all amateurs to register on the Hawi application and benefit from the provided services, including diverse facilities, spaces, tournaments, competitions, and events and activities hosted by clubs on the application.
Al-Nafi'i said that the two championships mark the initial phase in a series of sports events planned by Hawi throughout 2024. After the two championships, several championships across various cities and interests will be organized in collaboration with Hawi's partners. He highlighted that hosting the current and upcoming events indicates fruitful partnerships that aim to offer optimal opportunities and services for enthusiasts, fostering a culture of hobbies and integrating them as a significant aspect of community life. Additionally, such efforts align with the objectives of the Quality-of-Life Program, a key component of Vision 2030.
The tournaments are conducted in collaboration with the Golato application and the Berain Water Company as part of Hawi's collaborative efforts across various sectors to support initiatives for the development and progress of the recreational industry. Earlier, the Quality-of-Life Program Center and the Golato application had established a memorandum of cooperation. The agreement is designed to simplify amateur athletes' access to various sports facilities. Through the Hawi platform, amateurs can now easily book more than 500 facilities for Golato use.
Hawi involves the collaboration of 12 government agencies dedicated to advancing and energizing the hobby sector within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Its objectives include establishing hobby clubs, facilitating membership registrations, processing support requests, explaining sector regulations, and overseeing reserving spaces and facilities. Furthermore, Hawi enables the establishment and attendance of training courses while actively fostering community partnerships with local institutions.
