Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques Chairs Cabinet's Session

The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud chaired the session held by the Cabinet at Al-Salam palace in Jeddah this evening.
At the outset of the meeting, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques expressed thanks to and appreciation of Their Majesty, Excellences and Highnesses, the leaders of friendly countries as well as Saudi citizens for the noble feelings and good wishes they extended to him on the occasion of the advent of the holy fasting month of Ramadan, appealing to God the Almighty to accept the good deeds of all Muslims and forgive them in this blessed month.
The monarch briefed the Cabinet on the contents of the telephone call he made to President Mahmoud Abbas of the State of Palestine, citing the Kingdom's condemnation of the ugly aggression of the Israeli occupation forces against the unarmed Palestinian people, reiterating the Kingdom's firm positions towards the Palestinian cause and its support for the friendly Palestinian people to restore their inalienable legal rights. The monarch also briefed the Cabinet on the contents of the telephone call he received from Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, during which they reviewed the latest developments in the region and the efforts being exerted towards them.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency following the meeting, Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad, Minister of Culture and Information, said that the Cabinet highlighted the contents of the speech in which the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques has addressed the people of the Kingdom and all Muslims on the occasion of the holy month of Ramadan, citing the sincere wishes and appeals to God the Almighty that Ramadan would carry good omen, characterized by security, stability, amicability and peace to the Islamic nation and the entire world and to help the Kingdom continue shouldering the honor it was gracing by Allah to serve the pilgrims, Umrah performers and visitors of the two holy mosques as the Kingdom has since its establishment strenuously worked to keep the bright profile of the Islamic religion and work to defend the faith and seek the service of Muslims' interests and Islamic issues and it was and still working with all its might, political leverage and international status to fight extremism and terrorism, confirming that they don't belong to any religion or sect or culture and confront whoever dares to mar the security and stability of the world.

The Cabinet also referred to the Arab and Islamic efforts and positions
that have crystallized during the last few days to confront the Israeli
aggression against the Palestinian people. In this regard, the Cabinet
welcomed the decision issued by the Council of the Arab League at its
Extraordinary Session at the level of Foreign Ministers held in Cairo
under the chairmanship of the Kingdom and which was entitled "Facing the
United States of America's transfer of its embassy to the occupied city
of Al-Quds, the developments of the situation and condemnation of the
crimes committed by the Israeli occupation in Palestine." The Cabinet
also welcomed the final communiqué issued by the Seventh Extraordinary
Islamic Summit Conference of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation,
which was concluded in Istanbul, and its call for the establishment of
an independent international commission of experts to investigate into
the crimes committed by the Israeli occupation forces against unarmed
peaceful demonstrators in the Gaza Strip and the resolution adopted by
the UN Human Rights Council in its emergency meeting in Geneva to
discuss events in Gaza and which included the formation of an
international commission to investigate into all violations of
international humanitarian and human rights law in the occupied
Palestinian territory.

The Cabinet expressed the Kingdom's strong condemnation of the armed
attack that targeted a church in the Russian Republic of Chechnya,
reiterating the Kingdom's rejection of all forms of violence, extremism
and terrorism and offered condolences to the victims' families and to
the government and people of the Russian Federation.

Dr. Awad bin Saleh Al-Awad said that the Cabinet has reviewed the
topics on its agenda, some co-studied by the Shura Council. The Council
concluded the following:

First:

The Cabinet authorized the Minister of Labor and Social Development,
or his deputy, to discuss with the Korean side a draft memorandum of
understanding for cooperation in the fields of social protection between
the Ministry of Labor and Social Development of the Kingdom of Saudi
Arabia and the Ministry of Health and Welfare of the Republic of Korea,
sign it and then submit the final signed version for completion of the
formal procedures.

Second:

Following a recommendation of the Council of Economic Affairs and
Development, the Cabinet decided to implement the solutions for the
tackling of sand movement to roads and mitigation of its effects,
contained in the study prepared according to the Royal Order No. (21671)
dated on 7/6/1435 AH.

Third:

The Cabinet approved the regulation of regions and cities
development authorities and its financial and administrative policies,
and a number of arrangements in this regard, which include amending the
name of (Al-Madinah Development Authority) to be (Al-Madinah Region
Development Authority), and deleting the word (Higher) wherever it has
appeared in the regulations, decrees, orders, resolutions and
instructions of all regions and cities development authorities.

Fourth:

The Cabinet approved promotions and appointments at the 15th and 14th ranks as follows:

1 - Saad bin Abdullah bin Sulaiman Al-Yousuf is promoted as
Petroleum Adviser (15th rank) at the Ministry of Energy, Industry and
Mineral Resources.

2 - Eng. Adel bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Salem is promoted as
Rural Development Adviser (14th rank) at Riyadh Region Governorate.

3- Abdulkarim bin Ahmed bin Hassan Flemban is promoted as Director
General of Engineering Department (14th rank) at the Ministry of Foreign
Affairs.

4 - Jawahar bint Saleh bin Abdulrahman Al-Shathri is promoted as
Director General of Training and Scholarship (14th rank) at the Ministry
of Education.

5 - Mohammed bin Abdullah bin Nghimsh Al-Harbi is promoted as Social
Security Adviser to (14th rank) at Ministry of Labor and Social
Development.

The Cabinet was briefed on a number of general issues on its agenda,
including the annual reports of the Board of Grievances, and General
Auditing Bureau on two previous financial years. The Cabinet issued
relevant instructions towards them.
