Saudi Arabia withdraws students from Canada and Saudi Arabian Airlines suspend flights to and from Toronto
The Kingdom has suspended all scholarships to Canada and will transfer all students already there following its decision to cut ties with Ottawa and expel the Canadian ambassador to Riyadh on Monday.
The state-run Al-Ekbabariya TV channel said the Ministry of Education is preparing an "urgent plan" to transfer all students and interns already in Canada to other countries.
About 8200 Saudi students are enrolled in training, fellowship and scholarship programs in Canada, 33 percent of them are females.
More than 6400 family members are accompanying the students.
Meanwhile, Saudi Arabian Airlines (Saudia) has decided to suspend flights to and from Toronto, in Canada.
The decision will take effect on Monday, August 13, according to an official statement issued by the airlines.
The statement added that no cancellation charges will applied to any canceled or refunded tickets.
The airline said it will find solutions for passengers who have booked flights to or from Toronto.
