40 million cubic meter of water stored to serve pilgrims

Abdulrahman Abdulmohsen Alfadley, Minster of Environment, Water and Agriculture said that environment, water and agriculture sectors are ready to serve the guests of Allah during the Hajj season 1439H (2018). Some 40 million m3 of water are to be pumped and distributed during the season. The General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection is ready to ensure environmental safety for the pilgrims and to provide relevant meteorological services to governmental sectors.
This came as part of a field visit conducted by the Minister on  Monday to the sites where services are planned to be provided to the pilgrims in Makkah and the Holy Places. He also discussed the National Water Company’s operational plan to ensure the readiness of the Water Distribution Sector in the region for the coming Hajj season in order to provide quality services to the guests of the Allah. He inspected operation and control mechanisms of the water system via the automatic operation system SCADA and was briefed on the plans for the year.
There is an active cooperation between many sectors to execute works in the Holy Places. The NWC plans to pump and distribute more than 40 million m3 during the season with more than 3,000 staff members working round the clock.
The Minister has also launched the new headquarters of the General Directorate of Analysis and Forecasts, a branch of the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection, in Jeddah. He inspected the readiness of the directorate and the availability of modern meteorological technology including radars, meteorological stations and satellites, in addition to the tasks assigned to the directorate including reporting forecasts, warnings and public information to relevant entities in line with the plans agreed upon with such entities.
The meteorologists of the General Authority of Meteorology and Environmental Protection started monitoring the weather of the Holy Places on 02 August with aim to serve the pilgrims to the Holy Mosque in accordance with the Authority’s tasks and responsibilities.
Alfadley praised the early preparations for the execution of emergency plans related to receiving livestock at the Holy City. Operational and emergency plans are now effective and receiving livestock shipments round the clock. 263 staff members are appointed to record check and analyze to detect any health issues during the Hajj season. Livestock is expected to exceed 2.5 million of sacrificial heads in line with the Saudi project for benefiting from sacrificial animals and securing pilgrims’ and local market needs.
The Minister also thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman and the Crown Prince Mohammed Bin Salman deputy premier and minister of defense  for their efforts towards the comfort and welfare of the pilgrims and the services provided via the program for serving the guests of Allah, a part of Vision 2030 which plans to raise the readiness to enable the receipt of a yearly 30 million pilgrims and visitors. He prayed for the pilgrims to have an easy and peaceful Hajj, also prayed for the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and the Crown Prince to be rewarded the best for their continued efforts and support.
