Three dead in attack on house of Afghan parliament member
An attempted suicide bomber attacked an Afghan member of parliament's house, killing three people, including one police officer and two civilians, officials said on Friday.
The assailant, who was unable to detonate his device before being killed by security forces, shot at people during the attack in Jalalabad city. Five other people were wounded, said Attaullah Khogyni, a spokesperson for the Nangarhar provincial governor.
Lawmaker Friadoon Mohmmand was not home at the time and it is unknown why he was targeted. The attacker was gunned down by police forces within minutes of him gaining entry to the property grounds, dpa reported.
