Our Clarity and Their Ambiguity
We do not know what is the goal that those who want to exploit the murder of Jamal Khashoggi want to reach? The case is primarily a criminal offense perpetrated by officials unbeknownst to the State.
A number of suspects was arrested for involving in or planning the crime. The Prosecutor-General directed charges to eleven persons and sent them for trial which is still going on. The case is considered in the presence of representatives of the Security Council's five permanent members, a representative of Turkey and representatives of Saudi human rights organizations.
Defendants admitted that they murdered Jamal Khashoggi, and the Prosecutor-General demanded the capital punishment for five of defendants.
Yet, there are still some overt attempts aimed to turn the felony from being criminal into a political one to target the Kingdom. This is their main goal and the murder of Jamal Khashoggi is only a means to achieve their goal, which they will surely never reach, no matter how much they try because our country is a strong fortress that they cannot even approach.
The Kingdom has been subjected to many smear campaigns to take a pot shot at it and its Arab, Islamic and international status to no avail. Those who tried, went back with their tails between their legs, and whoever thinks to try, will drink deep from the same cup. Our country is never shaken by any malicious attempts or fabricates accusations.
However, they even know very well that we have nothing to hide, but we have taken all the legal procedures transparently and publicly.
There are defendants, indictments and Prosecutor-General's demanding the capital punishment for some of the defendants involved in the crime. Similar cases take a long time and cooperation of all parties.
It is strange that Turkey - whose officials and media doubt the Saudi authorities' handling of the murder of Jamal Khashoggi - is the same country that refused to respond to requests by the Saudi Public Prosecution to provide it with information and evidence to use it in the investigation of those involved in the crime, although it was proven in the investigation that there is a local Turkish collaborator who helped dispose of the body. The Saudi Public Prosecution asked the Turkish government and specifically the Turkish prosecutor to provide any evidence, and is still waiting, a matter which poses so many questions about the contradiction of positions and their ambiguity.
All attempts to exploit and politicize the case of Jamal Khashoggi have been to no avail. No one more cares about the life of a Saudi citizen but the State only, even if others pretend to care. This is most evidenced by the tweet of Jamal Khashoggi's son who said: "There are those who exploited the murder of his father to erode his homeland and leadership. Those are the opponents and enemies of the State."
