Osmania alumnis elect new office-bearers
Osmania University Alumni Association Riyadh (OUAAR) elected its new team of new office bearers for the term 2018-2020 in Riyadh on Thursday.
The induction of new office bearers of OUAAR took place at a colorful function held at Paradise Banquet Hall, Riyadh.
A large number of Indian diaspora, which included heads and dignitaries of various Organizations and prominent personalities of Riyadh, attended this event.
In his keynote address, Dr. Hifzur Rahman Azmi, First Secretary, Indian Embassy, who was the Chief Guest of the evening, applauded the activities of Osmanians and praised them for their regular cooperation to Indian Embassy sponsored activities.
Congratulating the newly constituted managing committee, Azmi hoped that they will raise the bar to greater heights. He also commended the establishment for organizing an yearly event to commemorate the birth anniversary of Bharat RatnaAbul Kalam Azad by OUAAR. He assured the possible co operation whenever required by the Embassy in serving the Indian community to OUAAR.

Mohammed Quaiser, the outgoing President recalled the activities during his tenure during the past two years. He expressed satisfaction and gratitude to his team and congratulated the incoming crew.
He also urged other prominent alumni associations to form a federation to combat the community issues jointly.
Abdul Hameed, the Chief Advisor of OUAAR introduced the new office bearers for the term 2018-2020. They included President – Mohammed Mubin, VP Admin – ShahbazFarooqui, VP (Social and Cultural Affairs) – P. Venu Madhav, General Secretary: Taqiuddin Mir, Joint Secretary (Membership) – Syed Ateeq Ahmed, Joint Secretary (Education) – Suhail Siddiqui, Treasure – Mohammed Kaleem, IT incharge – Aslam Khan, Executive Members: Sultan Mazharuddin, Dr. Mujeeb Khan and Mohammed Rizwan Pasha.

In his Presidential acceptance speech, Mohammed Mubin thanked OUAAR for reposing confidence in him and assigning this great responsibility as head of the organization . He pointed out that a single head cannot do anything and urged team members to support him. He sought blessings of OUAAR patrons and experienced stalwarts of the society. He affirmed his full support to other organizations to work hand in hand for the cause of Indian community in his term. He also pledged to carry forward the legacy of Osmanians and Hyderabadi tehzeeb.
A short entertainment program of “Lateefa-goyee” was conducted by Senior journalist K. N. Wasif, wherein members from the audience spiced it up with jokes.
Certificates of appreciation were presented to the outgoing team for their outstanding performance.
Taqiuddin Mir, Shahbaz Farooqui conducted the program. Mohammed Kaleem, Aslam Khan and Sultan Mazharuddinwelcomed the guests.
The Urdu monthly magazine , Shagufa, published a special issue on life and contributions of Arhitect Abdulrahman Saleem, recipient of Indian Pravasi Excellence Award, who left the Kingdom after 42 years of service in Saudi Arabia.
Mohammed Abdul Rahman Saleem: An architect by profession, a social activist and the first recipient of Salar E Millat award from Bazme Ittehad, Saudi Arabia, Saleem has been serving in the Kingdom for more than four decades . He arrived in the Kingdom in 1976 and worked for the Mataf expansion project in the Grand Mosque in Makkah with Consultant Associated Consulting Engineers. Saleem eventually became the head of Design Section in Umm UI-Qura University from 1977 to 1988. He has also designed the Al-Azizia and Al-Zahir Complex buildings.
Saleem has been the founder of many community organisations in Riyadh such as NRI Architects Association, Bazme Hyderabad, Bazme Urdu Riyadh, Bazme Ittehad Riyadh Chapter, and Bazme Urdu Toastmasters Club Riyadh.
The Vote of thanks was proposed by Joint Secretary Syed Ateeq Ahmed which was followed by the dinner with Hyderabadi delicacies.
Osmania University based in Hyderabad, Telangana is named after its founder, Nawab Osman Ali Khan, the seventh Nizam of Hyderabad who rather through a farman or Royal Charter, brought the University into existence in 1918. It is the seventh oldest in India. Alumni of Osmania University are spread across the Globe.
