Company fined for delaying payment

The labor court in Dammam has fined a company for delaying payment to a terminated employee.
The court ordered the company, name withheld, to pay SR 25,000 in fine  after delaying payment of SR 54,000 to one of its employee upon the end of his contract with the company.
The employee had filed a complaint in the labor court after the employing company has failed to back pay owed salaries and end of service award.
Justice Minister Walid Al Samaani officially launched the labor courts in November.
The labor courts aimed at organizing, stabilizing the labor market, protecting workers' rights, creating secure, attractive work environment, and boosting investment.
