Executive Office of Council of Arab Transport Ministers Discusses Enhancing Arab Cooperation in Transportation Field
The 60th meeting of the Executive Office of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport was held here today, under the chairmanship of Minister of Transport of Egypt Dr. Hisham Arafat.
The delegation of Saudi Arabia was headed by Deputy Minister of Transport Eng. Saad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khaleb.
During the meeting, ways of developing Arab cooperation in the various transport sectors, setting an Arab strategy for the transport sectors and programs to facilitate transportation issues between Arab countries were discussed.
The meeting also tackled the establishment of an Arab Center specialized in sustainable transport and the final report of a workshop to establish a mechanism for the establishment of two private sector companies for maritime transport and logistics services between Arab and South American countries.

Saudi Deputy Minister of Transport Confirms Importance of an Arab Entity to Investigate Maritime Accidents
Saudi Deputy Minister of Transport Eng. Saad bin Abdulaziz Al-Khaleb, Head of Saudi Delegation to the 60th Session of the Executive Council of the Council of Arab Ministers of Transport which was held in here today, stressed the importance of a reliable Arab entity to investigate maritime, maritime coasts and commercial ports accidents and related-crimes in the Arab region.
In a statement to Saudi Press Agency (SPA), Al-Khaleb said that the meeting discussed many important issues related to development plans and integration of transport in the Arab region, ways to encourage the private sector to establish an Arab maritime bloc for global competition and benefit from the geographical location of the Arab world.
The meeting also discussed establishing an Arab expertise center to contribute to the investigation of marine accidents, and assist in raising levels of ship safety and navigation.
