President of General Commission for Audiovisual Media meets governmental agencies concerned with launching Cinema Project
The General Commission for Audiovisual Media has held a meeting under the chairmanship of its President Ridha bin Mohammed Al-Haidar in the presence of a number of government agencies concerned with the preparation of regulations and regulatory frameworks for organizing audio and video shows in public places in preparation for opening cinemas in the Kingdom.
Al-Haidar stressed that the objective of the meeting is to discuss the executive plan and requirements of the concerned authorities to launch the list of cinemas in a manner that ensures the presentation of shows in line with national values and constants through meaningful contents that do not conflict with the provisions of Sharia and do not prejudice ethical considerations in the Kingdom.
He explained that the Commission will continue to hold similar meetings with government and private bodies at its headquarters in Riyadh until the completion of this project.
The Board of Directors of the General Commission for Audiovisual Media chaired by Minister of Culture and Information Dr. Awwad bin Saleh Al-Awwad approved on 11th December 2017, the issuance of licenses for those wishing to open cinemas in order to promote cultural and media activities through supporting recreational activities and events as well as stimulating growth and economic diversification to create employment opportunities in new areas.
